Maple Valley Township, as of October 1, 2019, is now 1/4 owner of the Lakeview District Fire Department.
The Lakeview District Fire Department is composed of 4 township owners. They include Cato, Hinton, Pine and Maple Valley. As such the township is able to have the same if not better coverage for the cost of 1 mil instead of 2 to each of its residents.
The departments operations are overseen by the Fire Board which is comprised of member's of the township's Board of Trustees. The Fire Board appointed Pat Carr as Fire Chief to direct the department's day-to-day operations and oversee a staff of 29 volunteer firefighters. The Fire Department also has Auto-Aid agreements with other townships to help in the event of an emergency. All funding for the Fire Department comes through township taxes.
Lakeview District Fire Authority has its meetings on the first (1st) Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm except July there is no meeting.
Meetings in January, February, April, May, June, August, September, November & December are at Station 1 in Lakeview at 117 Park Street, Lakeview, MI 48850 . Meetings in March & October are held at Station 2 is located at 128 N A Street, Trufant, MI 49347.
